Vävda Rum (Woven Places) is Sweden’s first national exhibition in augmented reality. The exhibition is open from the 20th of May to the 30th of September 2023 and is the geographically largest exhibition in the country’s history.

The app allows you to view, hear and interact with the artworks in the physical space.

The exhibition showcases ten new works by artists and artist collectives based in Sweden, which are displayed in thousands of locations across the country. All works are placed by local art associations, in order to contextualise them in their environment. Each work has been developed for a specific site type, such as a square or a street fountain, and relates to it in dialogue.

Vävda Rum creates the opportunity for intergenerational meetings by connecting local and regional art and culture across the country. The project also explores new infrastructure for large-scale exhibition formats with small ecological footprints and great potential for dissemination.
Woven Spaces is a manifestation of art in a time when culture in general and art, in particular, are threatened by commercial and political interests. The project’s long-term goal is to lay the foundation for a thriving cultural life in every location across the country.

The participating artists are Space Popular, Lundahl & Seitl, Oscar Häggström, Åsa Cederqvist, Untold Garden, Pastelae, Eric Magassa, James Webb, Adam James, SONG (Choterina Freer, Anna Kinbom och Rut Karin Zettergren in collaboration with Paola Torres Núñez del Prado och Rosalie Yu).

Vävda rum is carried out by the Sveriges Konstföreningar with support from the Postkodsstiftelsen.
